It all started with that Reflex camera that my mother gave to me as a child. I wasn’t very sure of what I was doing, but I was fascinated by the result. I’d photograph what was around me: family, trips, friends. Thanks to ECAM (Madrid´s Cinema and Audiovisual Arts School) and to EICTV (International Cinema School of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba) I have spent the last fifteen years doing the same thing I did as a child, but as a professional: I capture spaces, people and all kinds of stories with my camera. The fascination with light, form and time remains, and my willingness to experiment is still intact. So the same passion drives me to direct the photography of a film, a TV series, an advertisement or a documentary.

One thing that experience has taught me is to adapt and put my full enthusiasm into all my projects, particularly when they demand directing an ambitious human and technical team. Or, as I had to do recently in one of my latest projects, filming a Long Take with just a mobile phone camera in my hand, putting myself in the shoes of a child. A child as old as I was when my mother gave me that Reflex camera with which it all started.

Then and now, the excitement is just the same.
